Kenneth Kirk Schade 1946 - 1982

Kirk was born December 29, 1946 in Glendale, CA to Kenneth Fisher Schade 1901 - 1990 and Jesse Hazel Pease 1909 - 2002.  In 1940 Kenneth, 38, was a Title Examiner for the County Flood Control District.  He was divorced living with his 62 year old mother.  Kenneth's sister Relia was married to Wilford Edling who was the Stake President in LA.  He married Jesse on July 16, 1942.

Kirk married February 2, 1975 to Laura Lee Lawrence.  He was 28 from Orem and she was 25  from Springville, Utah.

Kirk was a pilot and flight instructor with Central Utah Aviation.  In August of 1982 a plane he owned was involved in a crash in Garden City Kansas. The front landing gear fails.  The pilot is Lynn A Byson.

The next month, Kirk crashed and died the same day, Sep. 21, 1982 in the mountains of Utah. A mini-burst got the plane and it went down. A mini-burst or microburst is a small column of exceptionally intense and localized sinking air that results in a violent out rush of air at the ground. It is capable of producing damaging straight-line winds of more than 100 mph that are similar to that in some tornadoes, but without the tornado's rotation.

A micro burst often has high winds that can knock over fully grown trees. The size of a micro burst is typically less than 3 miles across, and its lifespan could range from a couple of seconds to several minutes.  They are totally unpredictable and invisible to the eye.  All planes are vulnerable to their impact.

He left behind a wife and five children.

AFTER LEAVING THE HARD SURFACE, THE NOSE GEAR FOLDED AFT AND THE FUSELAGE WAS DAMAGED. ACCORDING TO THE FLIGHT SERVICE STATION RECORDS, NO RADIO CALL WAS RECEIVED FROM THE PILOT PRIOR TO LANDING.
