Friedrich Wilhelm Zimmermann 1853-1856


Friedrich's parents were Christine Köhler who was born 13 February 1833 in Graben, Baden Germany to Johann Martin Köhler and Christina Scholl. Christine married Friedrich Zimmermann b 27 July 1823 on 20 March 1851.  Her first 6 children were born in Graben. Her last two in America.

Freiedrich is her first child.

No. 77. In the year of Christ 1853, on the 17th of December early at 1:00 am was born here and on the 18th of the same month midday at 3:00 pm by the undersigned pastor here was baptized: Friedrich Wilhelm, legitimate son of Friedrich Zimmermann, citizen and farmer here, and Christina, née Köhler.
Baptismal sponsors: Simon Süß, citizen and farmer here, and his wife Philippine, née Brecht. Wilhelm Becker, citizen and knife smith here, and his wife Maria Elisabetha, née Rödel.
Witnesses: the two baptismal sponsors Simon Süß and Wilhelm Becker, both from here.

Comment: The German word for "knife smith" is: Messerschmidt.

In the year of Christ 1856, on the 2nd of July in the evening at 8:00 pm died here, and on the 4th of the same month in the evening at 8:00 pm by the undersigned pastor here was buried: Friedrich Wilhelm Zimmermann, age 2 years, 6 months, and 15 days; son of Friedrich Zimmermann, citizen and farmer here, and Christine, née Köhler, his wife.
Witnesses: Wilhelm Becker, citizen and knife smith here. Simon Süß, citizen and farmer here.

Comment: In the right-hand margin, the decedent is identified as a "Kind" = child.
