Donald Livingston Weinert 1923-2006

WEINERT -- Donald Livingston, 83, of Tulsa, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006. Don was born in Kingsville, Ontario, Canada on May 14, 1923. His parents were Harry Weinert and Estelle Mae Livingston Weinert. He graduated from Hanover, Ontario High School in 1941 and volunteered for the Canadian Army that year. After being discharged from the Paratroops, he graduated from University of Toronto, Victoria College in 1949. He married Jane Dryden McGanity in 1953. After a short career with the Canadian Press he joined the Pipeline Industry before he and Jane immigrated to the U.S. from Canada. They eventually settled in Tulsa, OK and be started a career, first at Warren Petroleum, moving to MAPCO as it was beginning. He retired from MAPCO in 1988. He and Jane spent much of their time in activities with their children, especially the Green Country Soccer Association. After his retirement from MAPCO, Don was active with SCORE and with Friends of Finance at TU. He and Jane moved to Montereau in Warren Woods in 2003 as the first residents where they made many friends. Don is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Anne and John Veenstra, Stillwater, OK, Linda and Bob Lyon, Los Altos, CA, Patricia and John Phillips, Tulsa, OK, and John and Liz Weinert, Austin, TX; and his 3 precious grandchildren, Jordan, Will and Georgia. He is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Pauline and Jim Patterson, Mill Valley, CA, Patricia Bowman, Guelph, Ontario; his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Vivian Weinert, Scarborough, Ontario; and his sister-in-law, Mary McGanity, Galveston, TX; and his brother-in-law, Dr. Alan Parkin, Toronto, Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews. Don never found anyone who he couldn't have a great discussion of politics, current events or history with. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Francis Hospital, especially the Dialysis unit, Tulsa Nephrology and My MD for their loving care during the last few years. The family will receive friends at Montereau in Warren Woods on Friday from 1 p.m to 2:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 9, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 41st and Atlanta, Tulsa.
